Why do people weight approximately 1% less at the equator than at the pole?

Since the Earth rotates around its axis, centrifugal force, that comes from the center of the Earth (upwards), appears on its surface. At the equator, where the linear velocity of the surface is the biggest (1670 km/h), it is subtracted from the weight (force that affects the fulcrum), and at the poles it is absent.
